Blog #3: Watching Chainsawman and the female experience

Well guys its been awhile…

I am currently working on a speech for a Japanese speech contest and for that I need to practice with a Japanese professor. Well I had that meeting today and he told me he liked the speech I wrote. I chuckled and said “Thanks, I’m a writer”. But after the meeting while walking through the trees who’s red leaves were falling I thought to myself “If I am a writer, I really should write something”. So, its time to get my shit together and start writing again.

Going to the mall- by myself

So a few weeks ago I went to go see Chainsaw Man- The Movie: Reze Arc by myself. I had a pretty long day at school and I just wanted to decompress and do something fun. So I went to Prime Tree, a pretty big mall near Akaike station just to have some time to myself. I feel like in the world now it has become more and more common that women need time to be by themselves. This is being written after the bombshell Vogue opinion piece Is Having A Boyfriend Embarrassing Now? , were at the end of the piece the author laments about how many women are starting to romanticize the single life. Even though this day was before that article was released I defiantly felt this idea from the piece when I was walking around the mall. I am usually always going places by myself but that day was different because it was about a week after the bumble prime experiment that I ran. So after dealing with the numerous men from that week, most being dead ends, it was nice now to have time for myself. I had already known that I was going to watch the movie when I got there so I started by getting my movie tickets from the kiosk. In Japan, the movie theater is completely different from the movie theaters in America. First you can by your tickets from a Kiosk so that you won’t have to talk to anyone. Not only can you choose your seats but for the benefit of single people like me there is a whole section with pairs of chairs. That means that instead of sitting in the middle or end of a huge row I can sit on the outside of two chairs and place my bag on the inside chair, absolutely perfect. I have a feeling that most of Japan is made for single people because of how convenient it is to living by yourself.

So now it is time to talk about art. As seen from this blog I am a bit of an artist myself as well as a bit of fan of Chainsaw Man. While I have not read the manga I have watched the first season of the anime when it first came out. So going into the movie I had very little knowledge about what was going to happen other than what is seen in the trailer. Speaking of the trailer, the song IRIS OUT by Kenshi Yonezu in the trailer was one of motivators to go see the movie as it is a certified banger.
